So Simon did some research last night on getting the forums more phone-user friendly. Unfortunately we can't make a mobile site as such, because phpbb3 don't give you that option.

But he found an app which you can download, on either Android or iPhone, which comes with a plugin which we can install on this forum. He's going to put an icon at the top of the site, with one of those code box thingys (technical term there) which you can just scan with your phone and it will download the app.

The only drawback is that you have to pay for the app. But it's only £1.50. And it makes posting and reading so much easier on your phone. There is a free version, but it's read only, you can't post. So you can try out the free version and if you like it, buy the whole thing.

The other thing is that you can't do any modding or go into the ACP from the app. But personally, I don't mind that. I wouldn't dare do modding from my dodgy phone haha! My huge fingers are far too likely to press the wrong button

So yeah, exciting! Once we've moved the site and put the cover page on, Simon will sort this out :)

I won't be using it, as my phone won't cope (:D) but I like the idea! :)

Access recovery boat easily from your iPhone or Android!

So my amazing sexual hunk of a boyfriend has added the possibility to access our forum from an app called 'Forum Runner'. The free version only allows you to read the forums, but the full version is only $1.99/£1.27 and I think it's the best app out there.

Download and install from the app store
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/forum-ru ... 27234?mt=8
..or android market
https://market.android.com/details?id=n ... rch_result

You can find our forum in forum browser->health->disorders->recovery boat (this seemed like the best category but we can change it if required)
You can log in and make the forum a favourite

All this info will be on the homepage of the website soon is now on the homepage of the website.

Thanks for this. I've only got my iPad while I'm traveling at the moment and think that this is going to be a better way to access it. :)

Excellent :) I use the app on my phone all the time and it's much easier than going through the browser.

Do you know if this will only be for UKers or can North Americans use it too?

Well it works for me and I'm from Australia (so I have an Australian iTunes account) and I'm in China. So my guess is that it works worldwide.

I've just been using an app I found on the google play store called forum fiend. It's free but I don't know how good it is yet, only been using it for a few hours.

If you do decide to download it, it'll ask for the url. Put in www.recoveryboat.com/forum
It won't find the forum through the app, but will ask if you want webview. Click yes (for some reason only forums not registered with them work on my tablet...)

I'll update if there are any snags or whatever. Only one I've found so far is I can't click back if I wanna change anything, I can only change stuff by deleting everything after the thing you want to change.

Forum fiend no longer exists. But I'm currently posting from an Android tablet, browsing on Chrome, and it's working fine
